Guernsey Riding & Hunt Club

GUERNSEY RIDING AND HUNT CLUB
AFFILIATED TO BRITISH RIDING CLUBS
ESTABLISHED 1933

The aims and objectives of the Club are to:
Develop and extend the facilities for horse riding in Guernsey
Organize competitions and promote the training of horse and rider

The Club owns its own land at Les Bordages, Les Raies, St Saviours and holds many equestrian events throughout the year which include show jumping, dressage, cross country, gymkhanas and many practices and training clinics.

Our main events of the year are the Derby Show which takes place annually on Easter Monday and our Annual Show which consists of two weekends in July, one hosting showing classes and the other show jumping.

We are affiliated to British Riding Clubs (Area 17) which ensures that all our events and members are fully covered by Stoneleigh Headquarters insurance umbrella..

Our Club is completely self funding and our events rely on the kind sponsorship of local businesses, the hard work and organizational skills of the committee. The Club would benefit most from an upgrade to its sand school to an all weather surface.

Guernsey Riding and Hunt Club was formed in 1933 and past presidents include the late Jurat Lawrie Ozanne, Advocate Michael Eades, Advocate Mark Torode, Mrs Marjory Travers, the late Mr. Tim Blake, Sgt Andy Goodall, Dr John Hanaghan, Mr. Graham Froome, Mr. Bob Froome, Mrs. Betty Shanks, Mrs. Fay Blackmore, Mrs. Janet McCathie. After so many years of successful competing and having spent more years in the saddle that anyone else in the Channel Islands, Jan Coomer is honored to follow such well respected members of the equestrian community who have helped to make this Club so successful and provide the facilities are there today.
